Every figure on this page is distilled from real, individual answers given by ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Grok, and Copilot to the panel's locked questions. Only completed answers are counted — errored or unreachable platform calls are excluded — and the count is logged per scan. It grows every day as the panel cycles.

"Blocking AI" = robots.txt fully disallows one or more of GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, or Google-Extended, or the site's CDN challenges AI crawlers. "Citation sources tracked" = distinct domains AI platforms cite when answering the industry's queries, where platforms expose that information (self-citations excluded) — count only; the ranked breakdown is not published. Figures with samples under 10 are withheld.
Documentation
The panel. A fixed cohort of local businesses across 11 industries in 10 mid-size US metros. Members are the established, high-visibility businesses in each market — the ones customers actually find — chosen by a fixed selection rule, documented in writing and applied identically since the panel's inception. The panel cannot be joined, bought into, or lobbied. There is no application, no sponsorship, and no pay-to-play; the exact selection rule isn't published because a public formula would let businesses engineer their way in, and an index that can be gamed can't be trusted. Membership is append-only and is never adjusted to influence the numbers — not by the businesses being measured, and not by us. Replacements for dead domains are logged.
The instrument. Every member is scanned monthly against the same locked prompt library for its industry — identical questions, every business, every month — across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Grok, and Microsoft Copilot. Locked prompts are what make scores comparable across businesses and across time; the libraries only ever grow, never change.
The measurements. AI visibility score (0–100: platform breadth, prompt coverage, sentiment, competitive defensibility), AI-crawler access (robots.txt rules for the six major AI crawler agents, llms.txt adoption, CDN bot-challenge behavior), and citation sources (the domains AI platforms cite when answering the industry's queries, where platforms expose them). Each member's monthly scan evaluates up to 43 individual platform answers; only answers that actually completed are counted toward the edition total, and the count is logged per scan.
Honesty rules. Every published figure discloses its sample size. No figure is published on a sample under 10. Nothing on this page is modeled, extrapolated, or estimated — if it isn't measured yet, it says "collecting."
